GreenPass puts germplasm distribution in the fast lane

Gene banks play a fundamental role in the dissemination of seeds and other plant material to researchers,  governments, farmers, among others. In order to do so, they have to guarantee that only clean and healthy material is distributed. This article presents a new quality assurance system: the GreenPass. “The agreements the CGIAR centers have with the Plant Treaty under its Article 15 have allowed the international genebanks to get in on the deal. GreenPass reinforces the effort to encourage and promote the availability of crop diversity for crop improvement programs around the world.”
