FAO - EU Afghanistan Seed Project

This audio slide show presents an example of a seed project supported by The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the European Union (EU) in Afghanistan. In this project, assistance is provided to build up the private seed sector in the form of small enterprises to produce quality seed, and in the public sector to regulate the seed industry. Farmers in poor rural areas are often willing to be involved in seed trials and to use improved seed to increase crop yields, as well as to influence other farmers to become involved.
