Seeds for Needs' project in India

This video describes the use of a crowdsourcing approach to varietal selection in India in which farmers undergo on-farm trials of a small number of pre-selected varieties and rank them according to different performance characteristics. Using this approach, farmers have gained access to varieties that can perform well on their land that they would not otherwise have had access to. Results of trials and seed are disseminated widely to farmers. The success of the programme is evidenced by a rapid increase in the number of farmers involved from different villages and districts.
