Promotion of Local Crops in Nepal

This short video highlights the achievements of the Local Crop Project (LCP) in Nepal. The project was jointly implemented by LI-BIRD, Bioversity International, Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) and Department of Agriculture (DoA) in Nepal with the financial support of Global Environmental Facility (GEF) through the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP). LCP was implemented in 4 districts of Nepal targeting eight traditional mountain crops. The five year's (2014-2019 AD) project was aimed to develop and promote diverse sets of varieties, improve access to diverse sets of planting materials, create and distribute drudgery-reducing processing technologies, and promote an enabling environment for access to the benefit-sharing of seeds and other planting materials.
