Landrace conservation in Europe - first localities for inclusion in a regional in situ PGR network

Based on 19,335 records of landraces maintained in situ from 14 different European countries, 100 landrace diversity hotspots, and other sites of interest were identified and used as a starting point for interactions with collaborators in the Farmer’s Pride project to provide expert input into the process of identifying potential localities for inclusion in the European network for in situ conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources. In this document, the authors report the results of the interactions with collaborators in the Farmer’s Pride project regarding the identification of activities/sites of landrace cultivation in Europe most relevant for initial inclusion in the European network and some recommendations on the implementation process.
